Lingering Vestiges of the Cold War
It’s finally here. The first volume of the definitive dossier detailing the misdeeds of the “Kremlin Candidate” himself and his treacherous cohorts is now in the open for all to listen to. Lingering Vestiges of the Cold War, Vol. 1 exposes how the patterns of practice in the realm of geopolitics from the defining struggle between the superpowers of the twentieth century still haunt the world and have given rise to a new existential crisis: the survival of democracy itself.
From the proverbial “dustbin of history”, a creature of the defunct Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, former intelligence officer and now dictator of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, has reignited the Cold War in a new and terrifying form. Preying on the weaknesses of the American conservative movement, as well as the complacency of the broader American public, Putin has subverted the Republican Party of old and transformed it into an instrument of his retribution against Western Civilization.
Through his puppet, Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin has inflicted more damage to the cause of democracy than all of his Soviet predecessors combined by actively interfering with the U.S. Presidential Election of 2016. Not even in Lenin’s wildest dreams could the corruption of an entire political party and its propaganda apparatus have succeeded to such a ghastly degree. Not even Trotsky would have thought that an American president would openly align himself with vicious dictators of pariah states. Not even Stalin could have had the seemingly naive thought that an American president would indulge his own hubristic incompetence to sow enough chaos that would directly result in the deaths of over one million fellow citizens during a global pandemic. Not even Khrushchev would have thought that such an instrument could divide the American public to such a perilous degree and warp the perception of the supposed “free-press”. Nor Brezhnev could have imagined that an American president would have willingly incited an attempted coup against his own government. And yet, that is precisely what Putin has achieved through Trump’s electoral college win of 2016.
It has now happened again in 2024. Through blatant and rampant interference in the elections of the United States and allies around the world, Putin’s regime has dealt another devastating blow to the cause democracy and is poised to have his puppet returned to the Oval Office. Bomb threats against polling stations in democratic strongholds tracing back to online servers based in Russia tangibly disrupted the electoral process. Proxy conflicts, specifically the Israeli-Hamas War, have been initiated at Putin’s behest in order to divide public opinion throughout the western world. It is widely known that vulnerabilities in the electoral system stemming from the election of 2016 have remained unaddressed since February of 2020, for legitimate efforts to strengthen election security have been repeatedly blocked by the Republican Party’s intransigence and bad faith counter proposals laden with poison pills. Despite the claims that the election was “free and fair”, too many doubts remain, for in addition to the bomb threat attacks made on polling places during Election Day, those who cast early ballots are either unable to track their votes or their ballots were unfairly rejected/uncounted.
In facing the “accepted” reality of the “Orwellian” nightmare, Trump, returning to the office of the presidency, it is time for the public to be reminded of the truth. Despite the constant bombardment of disinformation, misinformation, and blatant self-serving lies on social media, along with the complete abdication of legacy media of its sacred trust, the citizenry of the United States must not lose sight of the fascistic threats that Donald Trump, the Republican Party, and their media arm represents. They have all willingly subsumed themselves into the resurgent global fascist movement that is effectively wielded by Vladimir Putin and his fellow travelers. Their wealthy benefactors, driven by blind and insatiable greed, are actively supporting the rise of fascism in the United States in the misguided belief that a kleptocratic autocracy is in their best interests.
In the spirit of helping to preserve, protect, and advance our democratic institutions for generations to come, I humbly submit this composition into the public record in order to contribute to productive political discourse. As a means of helping weigh such discourse in favor of democracy’s survival, the majority of the proceeds (70%) raised from the sales of this recording will be donated to progressive/pro-democracy candidacies and organizations nationwide, with a special emphasis on building a strong coalition of independent media outlets and pundits to effectively counteract the web of deceit that is spun by the “odious apparatus” of right wing media. The remaining funds will be used to cover associated expenses and help finance future projects currently in the pipeline.
